Cookie policy
Short version: no ads, no tracking, and analytics only if you say yes.

This page explains which cookies and similar technologies playwildsite.com uses, in line with the EU ePrivacy Directive (Art. 5(3)), the GDPR and the UK PECR. For everything else about personal data, see our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, tracking pixels and device fingerprinting. Under EU and UK law, a site may only use them without your consent when they are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything else needs your consent first.
Your choice
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Reject and Accept are equally easy, nothing is pre-selected, and the whole site works the same whichever you choose. Until you click Accept, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. We ask again after 6 months.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, as easily as you gave it, using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page or the button below. If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies from your browser and stop loading Google Analytics.
Strictly necessary (always on)
These are needed to remember your cookie choice and to keep the site secure and available, so they are exempt from consent. They are not used to track you across websites, build a profile or serve advertising. The Cloudflare cookies appear only when a Cloudflare security feature applies to your visit, so you may never get them.

Analytics (only with your consent)
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages are read. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and the data is not used for advertising. Details of what is collected, the legal basis and the recipients are in section 3.4 of the privacy policy.

Not used
We do not use advertising, retargeting, social media, personalisation or fingerprinting technologies of any kind.
Third-party content
Images in some news posts are loaded from Valve's Steam image servers. Those servers receive your IP address, as explained in the privacy policy. We do not ask them to set cookies, and most browsers block third-party cookies in this situation by default.
We do not embed YouTube, Discord, X or other social media players or widgets, so they cannot set cookies while you browse this site. When you follow a link to Steam, Discord, YouTube or X, you are on their website, and their own cookie policies apply.
How to control cookies in your browser
You can also view, block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the Cloudflare security cookies will not stop you reading the site, but you may see security checks more often. Clearing your site data also resets your cookie choice, so the banner will appear again. Instructions for common browsers:

If we add or change cookies, we update this page first. Anything that is not strictly necessary is only ever set after you consent.
